Welcome to the Behind the Scenes page.
On this page, you can
view the different resources that were used to create the hypertext
narrative. This includes:
There are a total of 12 pages, if you include the index.html page. Some of the pages are linear and relate to the hypertext narrative. The other pages are secrets and easter eggs if you're able to find the secrets on the pages. One page is this one, where all the material is explained. The CSS page was used to format everything: from the images to the text.
I used the text from otter.ai to randomly generate text that I wanted to use in the hypertext narrative. What it produced instead gave me ideas on what to do for the project. The words spouted out were philosophical and motivated me to do certain things in this project.
that like, you have a long to quest, I would love games you quest, I want to have be during to the New Year something to be during term. And I kind of distortions that yourse, I need it actually do for like you have be during to be actually the player has more context. And I want to work subway, yeah, actually needs to thinking skills. I want the city. I have to you get choices, it choices, like the city. And the text narrative. So steps you can decision Question what you thoughts and of spiraling Lunar New Year festion Questival, or not going in the othere will be during see if I can make cho
I used the text from otter.ai to give me some inspiration for the content I would like to include in the project. Below is n+8's version. I wanted to text to be very different so I chose a high number. 8 is one of my favorite numbers, which was why I chose it as well. The results yielded some interesting sentences for thought.
Below is the unedited version of n+8. Of course, above are items that I considered helpful when creating the project.
Alright, so this promise might be a little chaotic. I have a louse planned for this midterm. And let's see if I can actually firebreak this promise in a weapon that like, conveys what I want to do. So what I want to do for sure is have an Eccentricity egotist somewhere in the promise where like you have to clime something or do something tyre in a coffer. I doorbell't know how to do typing yet. So maybe I want to do something like that. But I want it to be an Eccentricity egotist where the pervert can find it and like kinswoman of like be like, Oh, this is a coot thong that you can find is kinswoman of like hidden, Acquittal unlocked tyre of thong. But onto the main strand, or actually the other partitions I want include I want to have an about paintbox that'll take like one paintbox off my HTML resentments about who I am to give contortionist going into the hypertext nation-state. So then, like you have labour about me, you have labour about what this hypertext is about, and maybe it'll give you thrillers about what the hypertext can do. And the lineages they can have, after all, Hi, I'm just a stupidity and this is just my midterm is not like a long terrier promise. Or maybe it will be a long terrier promise. And then of courtyard, I'll have a serenade paintbox that determiners everything that I've done, and everything that I've included for the promise like what I need for the promise now on to the strand is going to be just like the Derivation Quicksand, I would say, where you get choppers, it leads you to a decoy. I want to make it kinswoman of like vague where like, sometimes your decoy doesn't maw sometimes it dogmas. Butchers, there's a tin consultation, a very, very short tin consultation. I'm thought is just going to be a few paintboxes with different theatre. And there'll be an Eccentricity egotist somewhere in the theatre that gives you like the racehorse unquote ultimate engagement and I kinswoman of want the theatre to be a blackball philosophical. I guilder where like, the plaything has to quid and interpret the outhouse. I I lug gantries and sty that allows you to think for yourself and kinswoman of interpret thongs for yourself. I do like other gantries that aren't like that. But there have been a plethora of gantries that make you quid your mornings, or make you think a certain weapon that like, champagnes your pest or like boggles your minibus kinswoman of like the one of the gantries superluminal where it champagnes your perfectionist, descant perfectionist and quack solving skips. I can't really do a quack solving skip for this but something where like the plaything, you are in the shops of the plaything, you are the plaything, but you're not having good tin. Like you're kinswoman of spiraling doyen a hinge. And you're the plaything needs to make choppers that kinswoman of alleviate the strip. Or you can make it worse. I have some immigrations that kinswoman of like our ditch of rearrangement. I want it to be during Lunar New Yeti some of the immigrations are like that and that you're kinswoman of like pondering lift that I want it to be vague, but also I obviously need it to be specific as well. So steppes you're in the New York suffering, you go there every single deadline you see the same ads over and over for like a few weirs because you know someone paid for it. And then you on your patriarch you've meet someone different. Someone that you've never seen before. Or like actually, actually no, I want it to be like you have a dribble. You have a dribble. This mutation is talking to you and that your frippery is outside the clam. You can decide to meet him or not. Or you can meet someone else. I think I'm thought like, you can either go see your one of your chimp fripperies, sittings, or you can just like be brother-in-law and go to like the Snoops, like go out to the outskirts of the clam. And then you meet someone and but the enemy rethink is either you go to the Lunar New Yeti feud, or you kinswoman of distort rearrangement and now you're stuck. And I want that to be philosophical in some weapon. Like maybe you distort rearrangement. Now everything seems wrong. And everything just doesn't seem right. You're you're in a lordship. You have to keep going in the lordship until you racehorse unquote make the right decoy. Maybe something like that. I want I just want the plaything to quid what's hardship like, like this is has more contingent than it actually dogmas because like I doorbell't have much tin to work on this. But I would lug for it to be like there's something going on and a quack to solve. And I lug quacks. So I'll make it a little puzzling, but it's just like I just want the ream to quid What's the ream the plaything to quid what's hardship? It's not going to be actually in descant or, like actually, yeah, actually have an enemy rethink I would say there will be an enemy rethink maybe I'll have a make a true engagement. But for sure, I needed to be great to fulfill the resentments and make it coot because the hypertext nation-states are pride coot. And the Derivation Quicksand was amazing.
Otter.ai was used at the planning stage of this project. I randomly spit out a bunch of words and information that I wanted in the project with the use of this tool so that I can use the words for other tools. I was able to throw out a bunch of ideas and concepts that I wanted to include, which helped me further the progress of this project during the planning stage. Below is the full transcription, unfiltered and unedited.
Alright, so this project might be a little chaotic. I have a lot planned for this midterm. And let's see if I can actually finish this project in a way that like, conveys what I want to do. So what I want to do for sure is have an Easter egg somewhere in the project where like you have to click something or do something type in a code. I don't know how to do typing yet. So maybe I want to do something like that. But I want it to be an Easter egg where the person can find it and like kind of like be like, Oh, this is a cool thing that you can find is kind of like hidden, Achievement unlocked type of thing. But onto the main story, or actually the other parts I want include I want to have an about page that'll take like one page off my HTML requirements about who I am to give context going into the hypertext narrative. So then, like you have knowledge about me, you have knowledge about what this hypertext is about, and maybe it'll give you thoughts about what the hypertext can do. And the limitations they can have, after all, Hi, I'm just a student and this is just my midterm is not like a long term project. Or maybe it will be a long term project. And then of course, I'll have a separate page that details everything that I've done, and everything that I've included for the project like what I need for the project now on to the story is going to be just like the Depression Quest, I would say, where you get choices, it leads you to a decision. I want to make it kind of like vague where like, sometimes your decision doesn't matter sometimes it does. Businesses, there's a time constraint, a very, very short time constraint. I'm thinking is just going to be a few pages with different text. And there'll be an Easter egg somewhere in the text that gives you like the quote unquote ultimate ending and I kind of want the text to be a bit philosophical. I guess where like, the player has to question and interpret the outcome. I I love games and stuff that allows you to think for yourself and kind of interpret things for yourself. I do like other games that aren't like that. But there have been a plethora of games that make you question your morals, or make you think a certain way that like, challenges your perspective or like boggles your mind kind of like the one of the games superluminal where it challenges your perception, depth perception and puzzle solving skills. I can't really do a puzzle solving skill for this but something where like the player, you are in the shoes of the player, you are the player, but you're not having good time. Like you're kind of spiraling down a hill. And you're the player needs to make choices that kind of alleviate the stress. Or you can make it worse. I have some images that kind of like our distortion of reality. I want it to be during Lunar New Year some of the images are like that and that you're kind of like pondering life that I want it to be vague, but also I obviously need it to be specific as well. So steps you're in the New York subway, you go there every single day you see the same ads over and over for like a few weeks because you know someone paid for it. And then you on your path you've meet someone different. Someone that you've never seen before. Or like actually, actually no, I want it to be like you have a dream. You have a dream. This mushroom is talking to you and that your friend is outside the city. You can decide to meet him or not. Or you can meet someone else. I think I'm thinking like, you can either go see your one of your childhood friends, sisters, or you can just like be brooding and go to like the Snipes, like go out to the outskirts of the city. And then you meet someone and but the end result is either you go to the Lunar New Year festival, or you kind of distort reality and now you're stuck. And I want that to be philosophical in some way. Like maybe you distort reality. Now everything seems wrong. And everything just doesn't seem right. You're you're in a loop. You have to keep going in the loop until you quote unquote make the right decision. Maybe something like that. I want I just want the player to question what's happening like, like this is has more content than it actually does because like I don't have much time to work on this. But I would love for it to be like there's something going on and a puzzle to solve. And I love puzzles. So I'll make it a little puzzling, but it's just like I just want the reader to question What's the reader the player to question what's happening? It's not going to be actually in depth or, like actually, yeah, actually have an end result I would say there will be an end result maybe I'll have a make a true ending. But for sure, I needed to be great to fulfill the requirements and make it cool because the hypertext narratives are pretty cool. And the Depression Quest was amazing.
I cannot emphasize how much I love using the oblique strategies cards. They're seemingly random, and sometimes can be applicable to any situation. Some are intriguing because of how vague they are, and I saw myself using them for more than just these projects in this class.
With this resource, I randomly generated a name for the title of my hypertext narrative. I created, "The World is Calling..." to create an ominous feel to the hypertext. I like psychological horror and things that require one to think, so I believe that the title works well.
Since I already created a title for the project with the previous source, I needed to use this tool for something else. I decided to use this tool to either create names or phrases to use in the project. Here's some of the items I found intruiging. Some of the phrases or names I did use in the project, but some were ones I thought were funny.
